Take the Tour

Tours of our Historic House Museum

Self guided tours are available to visitors most* Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Admission is $5 for adults and free to children with paid adult admission.  Tour revenue helps support and preserve this historic property.

Self-guided tour will begin upon your arrival, after sign-in and payment is made.  You are offered an introduction (if you wish) and a written guide to help navigate the Hormel Historic Home.  As you begin your tour, you can immerse yourself back into the early 1900's and learn about the Hormel Family, their history, and the home's history becoming a YWCA and today, a historic house museum.

The last tour starts at 3:15pm.  The museum closes at 4:00 pm each day.

*If you are traveling from a distance please call us to check tour hour updates as we often have event clientss who rent the historic house for special events such as Lillian's Table Culinary Experiences.  We also do our best to update our social media, website calendar, Google business hours, and place a sign on the front door or porch if hours will differ.

The house museum is closed to tours: October 9-November 24, 2025 for Christmas Decorating, as well as December 25 through the month of January for Christmas Teardown.

Guided Group Tours can be arranged for groups over 10 people. Upgrade your tour experiences for your group with a snack or lunch!  Call us to schedule your visit at 507-433-4243 at least three weeks prior to your visit.  Prices for guided group tours start at $5 per person; lunch, snack, or happy hour pricing available upon request.  Children under 18 are free.

The Hormel Historic Home is sensory sensitive and family welcoming as an educational experience for all.
We've created a social story narrative to help those with autism and other sensory processing issues have an enjoyable visit.
Download our social story narrative here.

Accessibility: The upstairs of the Hormel Historic Home is not fully accessible as there are two flights of stairs.  However, we have a virtual tour experience of the upstairs for visitors.
Please scan the QR code near the stairs or ask our team to view the video when you are ready to watch it.

Making history come alive for all ages!

History for Half Pints is our children's educational programming, where we help families with young children engage in the history and legacy of the Hormel Historic Home.

Family Self-Guided Tours allow parents and children ages 2-10 to explore elements of daily life from the early 1900’s. The tour includes various learning labs throughout the home that include puzzles, games, props for imaginative play, servant’s chores, and more!  Families can also try our photo scavenger hunt to discover unique features of the home and to learn more about the Hormel family.

Special family friendly events will be scheduled throughout the year..

The Hormel Historic Home offers a unique venue for kids' birthday parties, such as our Little Lillian Tea Party. Please give us a call to discuss options.

For questions or to volunteer to help with special children's programming, please contact our Executive Director, Cindy, at 507-433-4243 or [email protected].
