History for Half Pints Field Trips with our partners, Matchbox Children's Theatre

Take the Self-Guided Tour (as a family!)
Here at the Hormel Historic Home, we bring history to life for all ages.  Our History for Half Pints Children's programming began in 2016 and grows with each and every year.  As part of our Education Mission, we engage children of all ages with the history and legacy of the Hormel Family.

We welcome children to tour for free with paid adult entry.  During your self-guided tour, parents/caregiver and children are invited to explore elements of daily life from the Hormel Family's time here in the early 1900's.  As we come through the end of the covid-19 pandemic, we're beginning to add our learning labs back into our historic house museum tour experience.  Learning labs include puzzles, games, props for imaginative play, staff's daily chores, and so much more!

Children of all ages (and adults!) are offered a free scavenger hunt upon arrival.  We ask that children are supervised and walk (not run) through the historic house museum finding, learning about, and discovering unique features of the home and object in our collection; while learning about the George A. & Lillian Hormel Family.

We look forward to seeing your family soon!

Special family friendly events will be scheduled throughout the year including Snacks & Santa, Story Time with Mrs. Claus, and The Santa Experience in November.
