History for Half Pints
Making history come alive for all ages!

History for Half Pints was started in 2016 to help families with young children engage in the history and legacy of the Hormel Historic Home.

Family Self-Guided Tours allow parents and children ages 2-10 to explore elements of daily life from the early 1900’s. The tour includes various learning labs throughout the home that include puzzles, games, props for imaginative play, servant’s chores, and more! Families can also try our photo scavenger hunt to discover unique features of the home and to learn more about the Hormel family.

Families are welcome to visit during our regular visitor hours, Monday-Friday 10-4:30 to tour.  Entry is $5 per adult.  Half Pints Club Members receive free entry as well as other family friendly benefits.  Please check-in with staff members upon arrival. We look forward to seeing your family soon!

Special family friendly events will be scheduled throughout the year including Soup & Santa in November.

The Hormel Historic Home offers a unique venue for kids' birthday parties. Please give us a call to discuss options.

For questions or to volunteer to help with special children's programming, please contact Cindy at 507-433-4243 or cindy@hormelhistorichome.org.

Office and Tour Hours
 Monday-Friday 10am-4:30pm
If you are traveling from a distance you're welcome to call us to check tour hour updates as we sometimes have events who rent the historic house for special events.  We also do our best to update our social media and place a sign on the front door or porch if hours will differ.
Special Event Hours Vary and are Customized Per Event

The Hormel Historic Home is an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit historic house museum organization.  We are not own, operated, or operationally funded by any corporation, historical society, county, city or foundation.  All our funding comes from tours, gift shop sales, donations, memberships, grants for specific projects and programs, and event rentals.  We thank you for your support!
